The full expedition runs for around 23 days, including acclimatisation days, two nights at Everest Base Camp, and the climb of Lobuche East.
The summit of Lobuche East is 6,119m. You’ll also trek through Everest Base Camp at 5,364m and Kala Patthar at 5,545m.
No prior technical climbing experience is essential, but a good level of fitness and trekking experience at altitude is preferred but not essential. We provide skills training on the mountain.
It is considered a challenging trekking peak. The summit push involves crampons, fixed ropes, use of basic climbing hardware and steep snow slopes, but with our training and Sherpa support it’s achievable.
We include two nights inside Everest Base Camp for acclimatisation, a close 1:2 guide-to-client ratio, and leadership by expert Sherpas with extensive Himalayan experience.
We keep teams for the climb small, usually between 6–10 climbers, with a 1:2 Sherpa-to-client ratio for safety and success. During the trek, you will walk to EBC with trekkers and Mt Everest climbers. You will separate from the trekking group on the way down for the climb of Lobuche East.
The expedition covers all in-country logistics: airport transfers, accommodation, meals on the trek, Sherpa support, permits, domestic flights, and climbing equipment for group use.
International flights, travel insurance, personal gear, tips for staff, and optional extras such as internet or personal spending money.
You should have excellent trekking fitness, be comfortable carrying a pack for several hours a day, and ideally have prior trekking experience at altitude.
Our itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatisation, including acclimatisation hikes, rest days, and two nights at Everest Base Camp before moving to Lobuche East.
You’ll stay in teahouses during the trek, tents inside Everest Base Camp, and tents at Lobuche East Base Camp and High Camp. You will also have 4 nights in Kathmandu at a fantastic, quality hotel that we have been associated with for over 15 years.
Nutritious meals are provided throughout the trek, prepared in the teahouses we have had a long association with. At Everest Base Camp, you’ll enjoy meals in our heated dining tent with food prepared by our kitchen staff.
You’ll need personal trekking and climbing gear such as boots, crampons, harness, sleeping bag, and layered clothing. We provide a detailed gear list and advice before departure. Climbing gear can also be hired, which we will arrange for you.
Yes, comprehensive travel and evacuation insurance is mandatory for all participants.
Safety is our top priority. We use a low guide-to-client ratio, daily health monitoring, and experienced Sherpa support. Our leaders are trained in high-altitude medicine.
Oxygen is not required for Lobuche East. The climb is done without supplemental oxygen, though we carry emergency supplies for safety.
The best seasons are pre-monsoon (April–May) and post-monsoon (September–November).
Expect a mix of conditions: sunny days, cold nights, and potentially snow and wind at higher altitudes. Temperatures can drop well below freezing above 5,000m.
The expedition is led by an experienced Everest One leader with decades of Himalayan guiding, alongside our elite Sherpa team.
This combination offers the best of both worlds: the classic trek to Everest Base Camp plus the challenge of summiting a Himalayan peak, giving you a true expedition experience.
Safety is our highest priority. Our team carries communication equipment, oxygen, and medical supplies. We are partnered with Global Rescue and use professional weather forecasting to choose the best summit window.
