MERA PEAK FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
We trek through the Hinku Valley, beginning with a flight into Lukla and a crossing of the Zatrwa La Pass before reaching Mera Peak Base Camp at Khare. We prefer this route as we spend an extra night for acclimatisation in Chutanga at 3020m, then spend another night at Kharki Teng (3800m), now ready to ascend the Zatrwa La (4600m), gaining valuable altitude before we drop down to the village of Toktok (3900) and then drop even further into the forest to Kothe (3691m). From here we gradually gain in altitude as we trek towards our Base Camp in Khare (5045), before we start our climb of Mera Peak.
You will need a full high-altitude trekking and climbing kit, including mountaineering boots, crampons, harness and layered clothing. Everest One provides you with a detailed gear list and assists with advice and guidance on gear selection. Specialist climbing gear can be hired in our Base Camp of Khare and we pre-book the equipment required, including boot sizes if you don't already have your own equipment.
